They're the same idea as Fig Newtons or Nutragrain bars, though I think these taste less like fake junk food and have a better flavor in general. They're soft with a nice mix of apple-cinnamon. The filling tastes more like applesauce and less like plastic-gel filling of some other cereal bars.
The size works for a toddler snack or as the "cookie" in a kid (or grown-up) lunch. With 110 calories each and 3g of fat, they're certainly treats, but they are made with evaporated cane juice, apple powder, whole grain oats and barley, and sunflower oil, so I'd rather send these than regular cookies. They're just a bit pricey, though, if you don't get them on sale.
Mine only had a shelf life of 4 months, so possibly stocking up for the whole school year isn't an option.
