This granola/cereal is great. I have many allergies and I never get sick no matter how much of this I eat. The new formula is crunchy in a nicer way unlike the old formula could have broken a tooth. (There were uncooked rice grains in there like little stones.) I add splenda and a little more cinnamon and cover it in skim milk, then heat it up in the microwave. It's thickens like oatmeal and it's very tasty that way! Also good in yogurt.

I love the gluten-free bakery on main granola. But these were truly awful - the bars were hard as a rock and had a funny taste. Unbelievably bad. Get the gluten-free granola instead.

Average Reviews:

My beau bought these bars for me because I often find larger adult-size bars to be too big. These are perfect-sized!
The ingredients are pretty good, being mostly organic, but it is still pretty much a "junk food" snack item, which I think are ok in moderation (IMHO). Each bar (in my box, as it may change) is listed at 80 calories and 2.5g fat. It also says "Carbohydrate Choices: 1", but not quite sure what that means. See my uploaded images for full ingredients list and nutrition info, current as of today.
They are really sticky-chewy and can be somewhat hard (they're not crunchy-hard, they're chewy-hard, like a bagel at the end of the day). This depends on freshness, as well. The ones I ate first were softer. A month later, the ones left were harder. I have TMJ issues and I appreciate that since they are smaller, there's less chewing. Also, the "hardness" makes them last longer, so you only wanna eat one.
The flavor is really good. For me, just the right amount of sweet and a good mix of peanut butter and chocolate. A great little snack!I rely on reviews here at Amazon to help me make informed buying choices. I hope this review has helped you in the same manner. If you voted this as helpful, I Thank You! :)

Average Reviews:

There are five of these in one box, so with a 5 pack, you get 25 bars. They're the same idea as Fig Newtons or Nutragrain bars, though I think these taste less like fake junk food and have a better flavor in general. They're soft with a nice mix of apple-cinnamon. The filling tastes more like applesauce and less like plastic-gel filling of some other cereal bars.
The size works for a toddler snack or as the "cookie" in a kid (or grown-up) lunch. With 110 calories each and 3g of fat, they're certainly treats, but they are made with evaporated cane juice, apple powder, whole grain oats and barley, and sunflower oil, so I'd rather send these than regular cookies. They're just a bit pricey, though, if you don't get them on sale.
Mine only had a shelf life of 4 months, so possibly stocking up for the whole school year isn't an option.

My child loved these bars for a while but then got burned out on them. They are a bit sweet and I didn't realize that until I tried to eat one to get rid of the last few. It was my mistake to buy so many before tasting them myself, so I hope other people try them out first. It did serve as a healthier snack for my child for several months so I am grateful for the product.
The expiration date is a great indication that they are all natural and do not have a bunch of preservatives in them, so I threw the leftovers in the compost.

We get these snack bars so that my kids, who have gluten and casein allergies, can have something to put in their lunch. But now that we have the 6 pack, there are so many around the house, that even I was able to try them. And unlike some gluten-free foods, these are really palatable. Especially good with a slathering of peanut butter on top, if your child isn't allergic to nut products, that is. We took a load with us on vacation to Wisconsin Dells, and they proved a delicious, energy-filled breakfast before we hit the waterparks. And on days when my daughter is late getting ready for school, she can just grab a bar for breakfast as I drive her in the car. In short - quick, convenient, delicious, and gluten-casein free. Perfect for a family with allergies.

EnviroKidz organic lemur peanut choco drizzle crispy rice bars are truly delicious gluten-free crispy rice bars enhanced with peanut choco drizzle--enjoy the yummy taste of peanut and chocolate in every bite. Be sure, you will not have to lower your expectations even if you are eating a gluten-free, wheat-free snack bar. You do not have to settle for ordinary or tasteless gluten-free bars when Nature's Path offers so much more--a pinch of this, a dash of that, but never anything artificial. This product contains no artificial additives, preservatives, or colors. Moreover, the USDA organic certification on this product means that the ingredients are grown without synthetic herbicides, pesticides, and nasty chemicals. It is a sacrifice-free way of enjoying a healthy delicious snack.

Whole Grain Goodness for EveryoneThe specialty of Nature's Path is, and has always been, everything "whole grain". If you decide to go "gluten free" then there is no healthier option than organic gluten free--products that are not only gluten free but also free of other things that can compromise health. Add to that, Non-GMO Project verified for an extra assurance when it comes to food safety.

Nature's Path uses gluten-free grains such as buckwheat, quinoa, millet, sorghum, amaranth, brown rice, flax, teff, and whole grain corn.

Amaranth: Long considered a native crop in Peru, amaranth was a major food crop of the ancient Aztecs and played a part in their religious practices as well. Amaranth is gluten free, high in protein, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, and potassium. It is the only grain that also contains vitamin C.

Brown Rice: Naturally gluten free, whole-grain rice is usually brown but can also be black, purple, or even red. It is one of the most easily digested grains and though it is lower in fiber, it is still rich in many other nutrients.

Buckwheat: It is not technically a grain at all and not any kind of wheat, but rather, a cousin of rhubarb! It is the only grain to have high levels of an antioxidant called rutin and of course, it is gluten free too.

Whole Grain Corn: While it's true that corn may be familiar, don't overlook it when it comes to antioxidants. Corn has the highest levels of antioxidants of any grain or vegetable!

Quinoa: It is another "grain" that is not quite a grain. Quinoa is actually a relative of Swiss chard and beets. This gluten free grain was a favorite of the Incas. It comes from South America and is a small, light colored grain that looks a bit like sesame seeds. It is a complete protein, delivering all the essential amino acids our bodies need.

Sorghum: This hearty gluten free grain from Africa thrives where other grains would wither and die. It can be eaten like popcorn, cooked into porridge, or made into flour. It is very popular with people who have gluten issues.

Teff: This is a tiny grain that comes from Africa--it is 1/150th the size of a wheat kernel. The fact that "teff" comes from the word "teffa" meaning "lost" starts to make sense. Teff has a sweet, molasses-like taste and can be used for baked goods, porridge, or "teff polenta". It is high in iron and calcium.
About Nature's PathFor over 25 years, Nature's Path has been mastering the art of whole grain baking with cereals, snacks, and waffles that are loaded with whole grain nutrition and wholesome goodness. They bake cereals with basic gluten containing grains used in typical manufacturing such as barley, rye, and oats. Out of the 128 innovative products that Nature's Path makes twenty percent are certified gluten free--and many of these products are also whole grain.

Organic is HealthierOrganic makes much less impact on the Earth as no synthetic pesticides fertilizers or antibiotics are used and no chemicals are added to the food afterwards. It means less pollution in your world and in your bowl. Organic goes further towards giving you what nature intended--clean, pure, and real food.

Nature's Path has made America's favorite gluten-free cereals for longer than anyone else has. Nobody offers a wider range of gluten free breakfast options--they know what makes a great tasting breakfast. You can make Nature's Path your daily breakfast partner today!

I tried this and the cascadian farm version and this has a more chemical taste -- of course its enriched to be really healthy for you, but doesn't have the satisfying and yummy natural taste of the cascadian farm bar that has me going back for another case at the grocery store. What do tie dye T-shirts, love beads, and flower children all have in common? The 60's, of course- the dawning of the age of granola heads. This was the beginning of the natural and organic food revolution, the very foundation Nature's Path Foods was built on. Some might go as far as to say we are one of the authentic organic food companies. Since the 1960's we've evolved from a small natural food company, to North America's leading organic cereal manufacturer - and our original granola has come a long way over the years. The authentic 1960's granola that you might remember is not exactly like the granolas we make today. Although it's packed with the same wholesome goodness offered back then our granolas now taste better than ever and come in a convenient hand held version - Organic Granola Bars. This handy on-the-go format makes it easy for you to enjoy the wholesome goodness of our granola any time of day. We've taken a great 60's concept and made it better. Our Hemp Plus bar takes the wholesome goodness oats and combines it with Omega-3 rich organic hemp and flax seeds for a great new taste sensation.

Earth's Best Organic Sunny Days Snack Bars, Apple, 5.3-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6) Review

Earth's Best Organic Sunny Days Snack Bars, Apple, 5.3-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After reading a number of confusing reviews that highlight LARGE discrepancies in sugars, organics and nutrition contents, I decided to investigate for myself.I compared Earth's Best Apple snack bars (my little guy's favorite) with Health Valley Apple Cobble cereal bars and Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Apple Cinnamon.Packaging:Earth's Best snack bars are KID-sized. Only 19g.The other two are 37g each.As most parents know, having things in smaller packages is handy because kids often don't eat all of what you give them. So unless you always remember to carry extra baggies or storage containers around, Earth's Best has the no-waste edge.***For the rest of this review, the numbers I give for Earth's best are based on a doubling of serving size from 19g to 38g so as to be on relative equal footing with the other two bars***Sugars:Nutri-Grain (NG): 12g
Health Valley (HV): 16g
Earth's Best (E'sB): 18g So, yes, Earth's best does have the highest sugar content of the three, but that's assuming your child will eat the whole 37/38g worth of bar. Mine won't. And, if you consider the source of the sugars (which, believe it or not, matters to some people), Health Valley and Earth's Best derive theirs primarily from evaporated can juice, honey, and the apple itself.Nutri-Grain lists high-fructose corn syrup and plain ol' sugar almost a dozen ingredients before you actually see 'apple puree' listed. One final sugar note, when ANY kind of fruit is reduced to a concentrate, its level of sugar (fructose) becomes concentrated as well. That's why it may take a whole apple to equal the same amount of sugar found in a couple of tablespoons of the concentrated apple found in a processed snack.Ingredients:Just a reminder, what's listed first on the ingredients label is what the product contains the most of, and so on down to the bottom. If you think your child is eating an apple snack bar, then apple should be the first thing list, not near the last.Organics:
Read the labels thoroughly.Healthy Vally claims 70% organic.Earth's Best claims made with Organic Whole Wheat.Neither of these items claims to be 'ORGANIC' in its entirety. So don't be miffed if you see the word and think it means the whole product only to find out it doesn't.Other Nutrition consideration:Fiber: This is the one truly weak point of Earth's Best. It list NONE. The other two each list 3g. Now, I'm not 100% certain that 0g for the E'sB 19g serving also means 0g for a double serving, but it's safe to assume that it would still be less than 1g.Vitamins: E'sB wins this one. Narrowly beating out Nutri-grain with added Zinc, Iron, Thiamin and Folic Acid, though a tad less on Riboflavin and Niacin.Health Valley has modest amounts of vitamins, but nothing to compare with the other two. This said, if you're the kind of parent who is truly concerned about a well-balanced diet, you know that the value of vitamins from these sources isn't as good as getting them from fresh fruits and vegetables, so don't bank on these bars as a multivitamin alternative.Sodium:
NG: 110mg
HV: 85mg
E'sB: 90mg (45mg/19g)Protein:
At the 37/38g serving size, all offer 2g.Total carbs:
NG: 24g (8%)
HV: 27g (9%)
E'sB: 28g (9%)...but 14g/19g serving sizeCalories:
NG: 120
HV: 130
E'sB: 140...70/19g serving sizeAnd an added note on calories: kids are active little things and hardly want to sit to eat or do anything to take away from their play/work.While I do prefer to give my little guy as much 'fresh' stuff as possible (and I give him a fair amount), he fills up on it, but burns through the energy (i.e. calories) quickly and is loathe to pause long to eat again. This said, when you can find a SMALL, tasty supplemental snack that's relatively healthy and also packs on the calories for your little one, then you often stick with it.The Verdict:If cost is the most important factor when choosing a cereal bar, then, yes, Nutri-Grain is likely your best bet. If convenience of size and nutritional content drive you (despite cost), then Earth's Best is definitely the way to go.Health Valley has it's taste merits, but lacks in other ways.I 100% believe of the value of paying a little more for Earth's Best smaller bars because it provides a compact, calorie and nutrient rich snack that is fairly healthy.

This is a very good product, and I was really surprised to see how low the cost was compared to retail (about $4.79 at Whole Foods). However, I noticed the sell-by date on the package is November 2006. Average Reviews:

Delicious, but they made the serving size absurdly tiny so that they could claim: "Calories 120 per serving". I weighed out one serving, and if you could see it, you'd laugh. There are 4 "servings"/480 calories per bag, so this healthy snack is NOT for those looking to shed pounds. But when the first ingredient is cashews, you'd have to expect that. Realistically, I'd say there are about 2 servings per bag. More sweet than salty; IMO, would taste better with a bit more salt. Sodium is 20mg per serving (80mg per bag) for those who are counting.

Cascadian Farm: Cinnamon Raisin Granola, 17 Oz Pack of 4 Review

Cascadian Farm: Cinnamon Raisin Granola, 17 Oz Pack of 4
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Okay, I admit it ... I'm a child of the sixties, and Granola was just about our national foodstuff. But not long after, with marriage, children, and the usual adult responsibilities, the granola faded into distant memory, along with the gypsy skirts, beads, and peace symbols. Instead, we had Frosted Flakes, Trix and other popular brands.
In my 20s I developed celiac disease, so anything made from wheat, barley rye or oats was totally off limits. Gluten-free products are frightfully expensive, so cereal for me was out of the question. Imagine my suprise when the Canadian Medical Association, a few years ago, okay'd OATS for people with celiac disease. Following that, so did the British, Australian, and New Zealand Medical Associations. (N.B. The American Medical Association has not yet approved oats for celiac patients, but I can attest to experiencing absolutely no difficulties with dietary oats. Be sure to check with your physician.)
Earlier this year, mindful that the Brits declared it safe, I began looking for a purely oat product -- i.e., one not laced with wheat.
And what do you know? There, on the shelf next to the Quaker Oats was good old-fashioned granola. Now not every granola is 'pure' in an oat or oat/rice combination. Sometimes there is added barley, MSG, or even the ubiquitous 'moderated food starch' ... but Cascadian Farms Cinnamon Raisin Granola seemed to be, at least from the ingredients perspective, a good possibility.
I tried it immediately. The result? ... I've become an addict, plain and simple. This granola is satisfyingly crunchy, and it's toasted to the perfect degree, neither too light nor too dark. The flavors of the oats 'n rice, along with the molasses and cinnamon, is outstanding. Everyone in our household loves it... adults, kids, and even the cats. As an extra benefit, it's certified organic.
There is one anomaly I want to make note of, one that I consider amusing rather than annoying. I use Amazon's wonderful subscription service and receive 6 boxes of the product every month (there's a 15% price discount with this service and NO SHIPPING CHARGE, so be sure to check it out). In opening box after box of this cereal, I have found that occasionally some packages contain overly large amounts of raisins, while others have, quite literally, only 2 or 3 raisins in the entire 17oz. box. This isn't a problem for me, because we always have raisins on hand and I can just add some if I choose to. Many times I don't, simply because the cereal stands so well on its own. I don't think this unevenness is a serious thing, but I did want to alert you.
I'd be lost without this cereal... it has truly become a staple for me. Later on I'm going to sample their Honey Oat cereal, too, and I expect it to be every bit the equal in taste and quality of the Cinnamon Raisin variety.
Please, by all means, try this brand ... and try out Amazon's great subscription service as well. You won't be disappointed -- I promise!
