Cascadian Farm Chewy Granola Bars, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, 6.24-Ounce (Pack of 4) Review

Cascadian Farm Chewy Granola Bars, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, 6.24-Ounce (Pack of 4)
Average Reviews:

My beau bought these bars for me because I often find larger adult-size bars to be too big. These are perfect-sized!
The ingredients are pretty good, being mostly organic, but it is still pretty much a "junk food" snack item, which I think are ok in moderation (IMHO). Each bar (in my box, as it may change) is listed at 80 calories and 2.5g fat. It also says "Carbohydrate Choices: 1", but not quite sure what that means. See my uploaded images for full ingredients list and nutrition info, current as of today.
They are really sticky-chewy and can be somewhat hard (they're not crunchy-hard, they're chewy-hard, like a bagel at the end of the day). This depends on freshness, as well. The ones I ate first were softer. A month later, the ones left were harder. I have TMJ issues and I appreciate that since they are smaller, there's less chewing. Also, the "hardness" makes them last longer, so you only wanna eat one.
The flavor is really good. For me, just the right amount of sweet and a good mix of peanut butter and chocolate. A great little snack!I rely on reviews here at Amazon to help me make informed buying choices. I hope this review has helped you in the same manner. If you voted this as helpful, I Thank You! :)

South Beach Living Fiber Fit Bars, Mocha, 5-Count Bars in 6.15-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 8) Review

South Beach Living Fiber Fit Bars, Mocha, 5-Count Bars in 6.15-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 8)
Average Reviews:

These FiberFit bars in Mocha flavor have no HFCS (high fructose corn syrup) nor any transfats, which is a very good thing. Each bar has 4g of fat (2.5 sat fat), 120 calories, 9g of fiber (very good for its size!), 125mg of sodium (not too bad) and 7g of sugars (not bad for a granola bar, since they are often glorified candy bars). My only two concerns nutritionally are that there are 3g of sugar alcohols (I've heard bad things about those) and that there is only 2g of protein. The latter is only a problem if you plan to use these bars as a meal replacement. With all that fiber, it may fill you up for a while, but with that little protein, it is very unlikely to last you to your next meal, esp. given the small size.
I was very pleasantly surprised by the taste. Mocha, a combination of chocolate and coffee flavors, is one of my favorite flavors of ice cream, so I thought I'd probably enjoy this flavor of granola bar and I did. It has a distinct mocha flavor. It is also chewy (and a little gooey due to the caramel layer) and a little crunchy. I rarely ever buy granola bars, but I liked these quite a bit!

We get these snack bars so that my kids, who have gluten and casein allergies, can have something to put in their lunch. But now that we have the 6 pack, there are so many around the house, that even I was able to try them. And unlike some gluten-free foods, these are really palatable. Especially good with a slathering of peanut butter on top, if your child isn't allergic to nut products, that is. We took a load with us on vacation to Wisconsin Dells, and they proved a delicious, energy-filled breakfast before we hit the waterparks. And on days when my daughter is late getting ready for school, she can just grab a bar for breakfast as I drive her in the car. In short - quick, convenient, delicious, and gluten-casein free. Perfect for a family with allergies.

EnviroKidz organic lemur peanut choco drizzle crispy rice bars are truly delicious gluten-free crispy rice bars enhanced with peanut choco drizzle--enjoy the yummy taste of peanut and chocolate in every bite. Be sure, you will not have to lower your expectations even if you are eating a gluten-free, wheat-free snack bar. You do not have to settle for ordinary or tasteless gluten-free bars when Nature's Path offers so much more--a pinch of this, a dash of that, but never anything artificial. This product contains no artificial additives, preservatives, or colors. Moreover, the USDA organic certification on this product means that the ingredients are grown without synthetic herbicides, pesticides, and nasty chemicals. It is a sacrifice-free way of enjoying a healthy delicious snack.

Whole Grain Goodness for EveryoneThe specialty of Nature's Path is, and has always been, everything "whole grain". If you decide to go "gluten free" then there is no healthier option than organic gluten free--products that are not only gluten free but also free of other things that can compromise health. Add to that, Non-GMO Project verified for an extra assurance when it comes to food safety.

Nature's Path uses gluten-free grains such as buckwheat, quinoa, millet, sorghum, amaranth, brown rice, flax, teff, and whole grain corn.

Amaranth: Long considered a native crop in Peru, amaranth was a major food crop of the ancient Aztecs and played a part in their religious practices as well. Amaranth is gluten free, high in protein, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, and potassium. It is the only grain that also contains vitamin C.

Brown Rice: Naturally gluten free, whole-grain rice is usually brown but can also be black, purple, or even red. It is one of the most easily digested grains and though it is lower in fiber, it is still rich in many other nutrients.

Buckwheat: It is not technically a grain at all and not any kind of wheat, but rather, a cousin of rhubarb! It is the only grain to have high levels of an antioxidant called rutin and of course, it is gluten free too.

Whole Grain Corn: While it's true that corn may be familiar, don't overlook it when it comes to antioxidants. Corn has the highest levels of antioxidants of any grain or vegetable!

Quinoa: It is another "grain" that is not quite a grain. Quinoa is actually a relative of Swiss chard and beets. This gluten free grain was a favorite of the Incas. It comes from South America and is a small, light colored grain that looks a bit like sesame seeds. It is a complete protein, delivering all the essential amino acids our bodies need.

Sorghum: This hearty gluten free grain from Africa thrives where other grains would wither and die. It can be eaten like popcorn, cooked into porridge, or made into flour. It is very popular with people who have gluten issues.

Teff: This is a tiny grain that comes from Africa--it is 1/150th the size of a wheat kernel. The fact that "teff" comes from the word "teffa" meaning "lost" starts to make sense. Teff has a sweet, molasses-like taste and can be used for baked goods, porridge, or "teff polenta". It is high in iron and calcium.
About Nature's PathFor over 25 years, Nature's Path has been mastering the art of whole grain baking with cereals, snacks, and waffles that are loaded with whole grain nutrition and wholesome goodness. They bake cereals with basic gluten containing grains used in typical manufacturing such as barley, rye, and oats. Out of the 128 innovative products that Nature's Path makes twenty percent are certified gluten free--and many of these products are also whole grain.

Organic is HealthierOrganic makes much less impact on the Earth as no synthetic pesticides fertilizers or antibiotics are used and no chemicals are added to the food afterwards. It means less pollution in your world and in your bowl. Organic goes further towards giving you what nature intended--clean, pure, and real food.

Nature's Path has made America's favorite gluten-free cereals for longer than anyone else has. Nobody offers a wider range of gluten free breakfast options--they know what makes a great tasting breakfast. You can make Nature's Path your daily breakfast partner today!

I tried this and the cascadian farm version and this has a more chemical taste -- of course its enriched to be really healthy for you, but doesn't have the satisfying and yummy natural taste of the cascadian farm bar that has me going back for another case at the grocery store. Tasted too sweet and not quite chocolatey even.

Cascadian Farms Organic Chewy Granola Bars, Sweet and Salty Mixed Nut, 5-Count Bars (Pack of 6)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
These are definitely my favorite granola bar selection from Cascadian Farms or any other producer (e.g. Kashi). A nice mix of nuts and chocolate. You can easily become addicted to these and down a few boxes in one sitting! My only gripe is that they only come 5 to a box (as illustrated in the photo; Amazon must have this mislabeled as 6-count). Wal-Mart usually carries Cascadian Farms granola bars but depending on the store it is hit or miss with what selections they carry, so if yours neglects to stock this I highly suggest you give them a try by any means necessary, such as ordering them from here!
Update March 23, 2010: Amazon appears to have fixed this and other listings and now lists them correctly as 5-count per box. Good for them!

I have bought the Fiber One Bars in Oats & Chocolate, and Oats & Peanut Butter. I love them both. The Chocolate are my personal favorite. The taste is sweet and satisfies my sweet tooth without a lot of the guilt and it does fill you up and has 35% fiber. I very seldom review things, but these bars are amazing (and typically difficult to find in grocery stores). They have 9 grams of fiber per bar (7 grams of sugar), but only 120 calories. Weight Watchers Three Flavor Assortment Chocolate Low Calorie Whitman's Candy Chocolates 40 Piece Bag Review

Weight Watchers Three Flavor Assortment Chocolate Low Calorie Whitman's Candy Chocolates 40 Piece Bag
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Weight Watchers Sugar Free Chocolate Candy assortment (made by Whitman's) is a fairly good snack food to have on hand for dieters but perhaps not for diabetics. While these are billed as low calorie, the recommended serving size of three pieces have 150 calories and about 13 net carbs (8 from sugar). That is a lot to be concerned about on a regular basis, but ok for the occasional snack. I try to limit myself to one or two pieces a day.
My favorite in this pack are the Pecan Crowns, which taste almost like regular candy. The Coconut has a slight aftertaste that isn't too bad but is noticeable.
It should also be noted that these are also sweetened with Maltitol and Sorbitol, which can cause "gastric distress" in large quantities. I advise people to take it easy on these until they know how they are going to react.
Overall, these are a good alternative to regular candies. Recommended!

Kashi GOLEAN Bar Crunchy Chocolate Peanut, 1.76-Ounce Bars (Pack of 12)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you're a former junk food junkie like me, then you'll get an idea of what these things taste like when I describe them as a more fibrous (chewy) version of rice kripy squares with a chocolate coating on the bottom. They really are that delicious. And at 170 calories with 4gm of fat (1.5gm saturated), 9gm of protein, and 5gm of fiber, they are a healthy alternative to many other types of snacks that one could indulge in (pastries, candy, etc).
These are easily my favorite protein bar and I've tried over a dozen kinds.
Edit on 9/27/07: This review pertains to the chocolate peanut Go Lean flavor. I just noticed that Amazon is grouping reviews for all of Kashi's bars together, so without specificity in the review it's impossible to know which product is being reviewed.
